FAQ
Straight answers, including the awkward ones.
What is Zika Care, in one sentence?
A voice companion that lives on the phone an older person already has. They call it any time and it calls them too. It talks with them for as long as they like, gets real errands done for them, and sends their family a short, honest note afterwards.
Does she need a smartphone, an app or any new device?
No. Any ordinary landline or mobile works. She never sees a screen, never installs anything and never has to remember a password. The family uses an app or messages to set things up and read the digest.
Will she know it's an AI?
Yes, always. It says so on the first call, whenever she asks, and without dodging the question. It never pretends to be a person, and it never speaks as anyone in her family.
What if she doesn't want it?
Then it doesn't happen. We ring her ourselves, in her language, before anything starts, and ask. Her family's consent isn't enough on its own. And she can stop the calls on any day by saying so.
Is it a medical device or an emergency service?
No. It doesn't monitor anyone, doesn't diagnose, and doesn't dispatch emergency services. If she says her emergency word or describes something serious, it stays on the line, gives her the local emergency number, and reaches her chosen people straight away. Our safety page lists the nine things it can't do.
What does the family actually receive?
A digest of two or three sentences after each call, timed for your morning, with a short clip of her voice. Urgent things don't wait for the digest. Things she marks private are never shared.
Can it understand someone after a stroke, or with Parkinson's?
That's one of the things it's built for. Instead of asking her to repeat herself, it offers its best guesses and lets her confirm with a word, a hum or a keypress. It learns her speech over time. We're honest that the first week is harder than later ones, and we say so before anyone starts.
What about hearing loss?
It speaks lower, slower and more evenly, rephrases rather than repeats, and never accepts a bare “yes” for anything that matters. It keeps adjusting through the call as it notices what she's missing.
Which languages and countries?
We open one language at a time, and only after each one has been tested on real phone lines with older people who speak it. The launch list isn't final yet. Tell us the language and country on the waitlist, because that's what decides where we open first.
How much will it cost?
Prices aren't set yet. They'll be priced per country, in the payer's currency, and paid monthly by the family. Every plan includes every safety feature. There will be no trial that charges you silently at the end.
What happens to recordings?
She's told that her family can hear them, and every time someone does, it's logged where she can see it. Audio is deleted automatically after a set period; she can ask for the exact date. We never let a provider train its models on her voice or her words.
What if the family stops paying?
She'll never just be cut off. She gets at least 14 days' notice in her own words, her archive is handed over, and the emergency line stays open for a grace period.
When can we start?
We're pre-launch. Join the waitlist and we'll write once, when there's a place in your country and language.
